About Mooselet

So who is Mooselet?  I am.  Mooselet is my nom de blog based off my actual nickname as a kid, Moose.  Seriously; my family still call me that.

I moved to Australia in June 2002 when my husband was offered a two year contract from his employer to work in their newest office in Brisbane.  We came with two children, limited furnishing and every intention of enjoying our two year adventure.  Eight years, two more children and a whole lotta furniture later we now hold dual citizenship and are still enjoying the adventure.

Who else can you find here?  My husband of over 10 years, The Hermit (really - ask anyone who hasn't seen him), my daughters Miss Thing (age 20 and no longer living at home) and Her Majesty (age 8), and my sons Sparky (age 16) and Clive (age 4).  They are each distinct children with their own interests, quirks and needs that give me no end of joy and grief.  Mostly exhausted joy.  We are joined at Mooselet Manor by Westy, our adopted ex-racing greyhound or the world's fastest couch potato.  Yes, even the dog gets a blog name.

In addition to my very busy family, I am a registered nurse currently working as a clinical trials coordinator in medical oncology at a Large Public Hospital.  I am hoping to make this secondment a permanent position as I believe research is how we learn.

I have a dark sense of humor and belong to the National Sarcasm Society (motto: Like We Need Your Support).  I'm a sports fan, which has helped me adapt in this sports-mad country, and while I love rugby league I still can't embrace cricket.  I also enjoy reading, history and science fiction.

Thanks for coming by.  Enjoy the veal and it's okay if you don't tip your waitress - it's Australia!
