IKEA

My good friend and neighbour Pats and I were supposed to go to the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Montville today. So naturally it rained, and we had to change our plans.

We went to IKEA instead.

Now I admit I am a total IKEA whore. I love IKEA. OK, maybe not a total whore... I don't love absolutely everything. But I love enough of it to wish I had more money than I have at the moment. I find that most of their goods are well built and are good value for money. Some things I saw that particularly caught my eye today:

This would look totally awesome in Clive's new room...
... so long as it came with this.
This bench/storage unit would be great wherever the kids have toys... which is pretty much everywhere.
And this? Would look super cute in Her Majesty's room when it's finished.
I totally covet this desk.
And this bookcase. :::sigh:::
I would have no idea where to put this, but I still want it.
I could not resist getting myself a new friend, however.

Tell me I am not alone in my IKEA love.

Love your new friend - he is just so you.
I know what you mean about IKEA. It's a fascinating store.

We love IKEA too, but I hate assembling all the stuff we buy.

We never leave there without at least $100 worth of stuff. But since it's 100 miles away and we rarely have the time to go there, we figure we need to stock up. Yeah... I'm going with that.

I never trust a store that won't let you go out the way you came in.

BOOOOOO to Ikea... sorry :- (

I HATE IKEA. I do! I went there, it's a million miles away from here, and had to wait in line for an hour. I'm sure it was an hour. Seemed like 10. My parents went there, who had to drive even further, and got to the counter and - oh, we don't have one of the bits you wanted. Yuh, great service!!

I do like their stuff though and would love to have my house all spruced up with it all, so long as we didn't have to put it together.

Don't get that bed either, BTW. You'll hate making it. We had bunks for years and now Foo has a bed with a desk and shelving underneath, due to the small size of his room. It's a pain in the backside. Really difficult for him to make himself.

Go for the normal bed that's easy for all to make :)

Hmmm... I feel as though I should go and really really really tidy the house, then I won't hate all the stuff in it so much... but I won't... so, meh!

We have THAT bed! It's Grace's and she uses it as a short loft, plus we put a mattress on the bottom, so it's really more like bunk beds. VERY popular with her friends.

I will tell you that it's a mutha-effer to assemble and that you will want to drink heavily during the process, but that you should plan to be stone cold sober. Drink afterward.

The first time we assembled it, it was actually only ME doing it. I was home alone and I did it in three hours. The second time was when we moved and it still took the both of us around an hour.

My partner loves Ikea, but I hate it. Even if I don't get dragged there, I end up with boxes and boxes of junk to put together. Damn you, Ikea!!
