Boowa and Kwala
Her Majesty is a big Playhouse Disney channel fan. It's got The Wiggles, Little Einsteins, Numberjacks and a heap of other preschool shows. On Saturday afternoon's there's usually a Disney movie to be had, although if they show The Little Mermaid II again I may have to scream. Clive's attention is often captured by the two 'hosts' - a couple of monkey puppets named Aah and Ooh.
In between the main shows there are often short, 2-4 minute shows. Are We There Yet, 5 Minutes More and, my favourite, Pingu. There is one of these shorts that really bothers me, however:
This is Boowa & Kwala. It's very obvious Kwala is a koala, despite the fact that none of the koala's I've ever met wear a beret or are jaundiced to the degree she is. Must be all that rich French food (the show is made in France). It's Boowa that bothers me. What the hell is Boowa supposed to be? I think he's supposed to be a dog - one site I found did agree with that (the main site is no help, I'm not even going to bother to link it) but really - does he look like a dog? How does 'Boowa' translate into 'dog'? Mutant dog, perhaps, exposed to faulty French nuclear reactors. I asked Her Majesty what he was, thinking that when it comes to stuff like this kids were more clued in than the parents, but she doesn't know either.
What does he look like to you? This show annoys me more than Barney the Dinosaur, and that's saying something.

8 Witty Remarks:
I remember the days of kiddie TV: Barney, Power Rangers and some obscure Canadian thing called The Elephant Show.
I do not miss them. Although the pink power ranger was kinda cute.
Thanks for reminding me why I don't subscribe to pay tv. Blech. :-)
Boowa...hmmmm... from the pic alone, I vote cat. But who knows.
Yeah, I'd say cat if I had to choose, but can't we just decide on FREAK!
What the hell is wrong with play school, Sesame Street, Noddy, Fat Cat (sorry, I think that's a truly Australian one!), Archie, Top Cat, Mickey Mouse, Wacky Races, Yosimite Sam, Basil Brush, Skippy, Flipper, Snagglepuss (exit stage right, even), Young Talent Time, the Wombles, Worzle Grummidge, and HR Puffnstuff???
Sorry, I have no idea how you spell half those, but they were top shows when I was a whipper snapper :- ) Yep, I'm surely getting on a bit in years now lol.
I loved Sesame Street. Great characters and better songs - who can forget Rubber Ducky, Sing and It Ain't Easy Being Green. And Zoom wasn't too bad but I hated Mr Rogers. The kids of course loved him. In my childhood there was Mighty Mouse (the Hernit's hero) and of course The Banana Splits Club.
As for Barney - please let him go extinct!
As to Wooza I would vote for a cat/dog mix - not sure if that is a dat or a cog.
How old am I that I remember the Elephant Show???
I'd say a cross between a cat and the lower body of a bear. Or, as so eloquently put by Miss WTF - "FREAK!!"
I cannot STAND the opening song of Sesame Street. Just thought I'd add that bit.
Suuuunnny days... ooh, yick, that sound makes me shudder....
try getting the boowa, Kwala song out of you head!!! you neglected to mention its of 4 times a day!!! i think boowa is a dog, and that Boowa is french for bow wow!!! but hey im no expert, *boowa kwala, boowa kwala, eya eya hey* (singing loudly, in her best french accent)
Boowa is a dog dude...
Check it out. It's in one of the early stories on the site.
