Getting Ready
OK, so I lied. I was really wiped out when I got home from work last night - my arms were sore from picking up boxes of juice and museli bars - and so I didn't do a post. Take my favourite child! It changes from moment to moment so you may as well take them all. Hmmmm, I don't see the downside of this situation.
It's good to be home and sleep in my own bed. Not that the bed in the camper trailer is uncomfortable, and I had my own pillows, but the constant light across the road was a bother. Plus we didn't have enough stakes and rope to tie down all the window flaps, so the wind caused a lot of flapping during the nights. We actually got back to Brisbane on Friday, but I continued my technology holiday until yesterday. Truth be told I didn't have a hope of getting near the computer for the first couple of days, what with Sparky suffering DTs from withdrawal.
I'm dying to tell you all about it, but I'm afraid it's going to have to wait a bit longer. School starts next week - can I get an 'amen' and a 'hallelujah' for good measure - and I've done exactly nothing to get ready. Both Miss Thing and Sparky need new uniforms, Sparky especially as he starts at the new school. I've done a quick cost run down and while I love the idea of uniforms it's really not all that much cheaper. I'm not even getting them a full week supply, and the cost doesn't include shoes for Sparky. Plus their "resource scheme" fees - who said public school was free? - plus their stationary, new socks, bus cards... How anyone can afford private school is beyond me.
So were off soon to start the madness and my post about our trip will, again, need to wait. It will be worth it, however, next week when I have a near empty house again. Nothing says happy mommy like back to school.

6 Witty Remarks:
I hear ya Mooselet.
My wallet is empty, as are my bank accounts (and I've just got one in school .... oh god, I can hear Mumfies already....!). Only 7 sleeps until they go back
WWWOOOOHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I mean, it's been lovely and all, but 6 weeks.... what are they thinking?
Send me pics of the Tween in his uniform. I have reciprocated LOL
Pics for Grannie as well. I have a hard time thinking of the Tween as being in High School - isn't he still a wonderful, cuddly 6 year old?
Can't wait to hear more about the trip.
"Cuddly" HAH!
My daughter's school does uniforms too. They may not be any cheaper, but I still like how easy they are to buy for. Although it's amazing how picky an 11 year old can get over khakis, so maybe my days of "ease" are coming to an end.
Yes, Miss WTF, I'm saying... blah blah blah!
I have to get a new camera before stues as I've lost mine. Have to get first day school photos.
We have uniforms sorted. Miss 10 and Master 8 are returning to previous school now we have left our beautiful mountain. I saved uniforms and the ones I bought for Miss 10 who is going into year 6 when she was in year 1 still fit! Yup, she's petite like me!! (oh yes, for those who don't know me, I'm not petite anymore, worse luck)
My kids are so economical!
Have Master 12 ready for high school. I can't believe high school is only a week away.
I love school uniforms, keeps everyone equal.
Look forward to everyone's new school year tales...
Glad to have back too, Moosey.
My computer keeps tossing me off so I'm crossing fingers this one gets through.
While we're half way thru the school year here, I feel the pain about the cost of public school these days.
I hate September for the constant drain on my wallet.
You might want to remind me of this when Im writing cheques with commas and a lot of zeros for University in June :)
