Drying Out

It's a lovely, if muggy, sunny day in Brisbane today. You may be thinking, "Well it's summer, of course it's sunny!" but this is only the second sunny day since Christmas, the first being Saturday. We finally got some decent rain last week, but in some places it was too much of a good thing. I phoned the caravan park where we are booked in to stay starting this Saturday to see if they were underwater as they are only 500 metres from the flooding Tweed River and thank goodness they're dry. I'd hate to get there and find the place flooded.

Instead of doing a huge driving holiday with the camper trailer, this time we're driving 3-4 hours down past the Gold Coast and just into New South Wales to stay at Kingscliff for 6 nights. Again, Miss Thing will be staying behind but since we're only gone a short period of time and she's working most of the time I'm not as worried. Although I did notice her eyes light up when she noticed the bottle of Kaluha on the shelf - perhaps I'll take it with me, to be safe.

I am a bit worried about how the Hermit and Sparky will take being in one spot the entire time. Neither one of them particularly love the beach, and they don't fish. I suspect they'll spend a lot of time watching DVDs. I'm off to the library this week to restock Her Majesty's book supply as well as my own. I love the fact I can check magazines out - I feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish a magazine as my reading time is severely limited these days.

Here's to hoping the place will continue to dry out until next weekend - then it can rain for the rest of the summer for all I care. My holiday will be finished!

Safe travels Mooselet clan. I'm off to the cricket on Thursday night so we're hoping for some dry weather too.

As to neither the Hermit nor Sparky liking fishing..... what the? Come fishing with me! You'll like it, even if we don't catch fish :-)

No way, Miss WTF - you have to catch things like beach worms and then put them on a hook. Ewwwwww!! Feel free to take Sparky, but the only way I'm tagging along is if I can sit somewhere and watch whilst having a drink or two.

The best way to fish is while scuba diving. You catch them and let them go, or you hook onto a big enough sand shark, go for ride then let go,
I hope the excessive rain hasn't been too hard on you. Some of the weather pictures from Queensland looked a bit scary. Have fun on your trip and let Sparky and the Hermit figure out what to do on their own. If they need help, dump Clive on them and go for a walk. Money says when you get back they'll have a plan.

What sort of nut job doesn't like the beach?! Oh, was that a tad too rude. So unlike me really!
I'm not into fishing, don't like all the ickiness of it. Feel sorry for the fish too. I do have double standards though, and eat the fish later on. The part I do love is that Mr Mumfies and children are gone for HOURS. Wonderful activity really.
"get a kid into fishing" was a slogan of years gone by. You may like to take it on board.
Happy hols.
