11:15
It's 11:15 at night and I'm trying to reach someone, anyone, at the Holyoke Community College Department of Nursing to get some documentation on my classes - both theoretical and practical - during my years there. I'm attempting to get my nursing license transferred to Queensland, and the Queensland Nursing Council requires more information than is presented on my official transcript. If only it was this difficult for doctors to get a license here in Queensland.
I keep getting people's voice mail, inviting me to leave a message so they can call me back. Needless to say, I haven't taken them up on the offer. I really don't want someone calling me back at 3 in the morning as most people who don't interact globally on a daily basis can't grasp the huge time difference.
"Australia, huh? What time is it there? It's tomorrow? Really? Wow, that's so cool." And it is, except I'm awake to witness it.
Please answer the phone, please answer the phone, please answer the phone.... AAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!! Doesn't anyone just sit at a desk anymore?
UPDATE: It's now 12:11 am, so it really is tomorrow and I still haven't reached a real person. Since I have to be up in 5 and a half hours (give or take, depending on Clive) I'll try again then. I'd be frustrated, but I'm too tired.

10 Witty Remarks:
I hate recordings. I can't imagine them being so busy that nobody could answer the phone. Have you tried emailing them?
Let us know if we can do anything to help. I'm off for another week or two and we can take a drive out there for you. If I know what you need I can give it a shot. I'm sure they'll gripe and moan, but we can probably get them moving on what you need.
Foot is starting to look like a foot and I can walk pretty well. Got to leave the bandage off for the first time and it feels good. He wanted me to massage vitamin E into it several times a day for a week. After scouring store shelves, I finally asked the pharacist and she reccommended vitamin E gel caps. A pin prick and two capsules later and the scar is well and truly massaged. It is way cheaper than ordering the straight stuff and I'll let you know how it works. Did you learn this stuff in nursing school?
Hate answering machines with a passion.
Hope you were able to finally find someone.
I still haven't raised an actual human and it's 6:30am! The college has been good, giving me phone numbers and giving me the info that they could. However what I need at this point can only be given by the nursing department and I can't get anyone. I have sent an email a week ago but have had no reply. Very frustrating.
Very frustrating.
I can't stand the long intro followed by how important we are, now press 2, press 7, press 1000068, you know what I mean.... Yes, you just want someone to answer "hello, so and so business, can I help you?"
YOur a more patient person then I am... I'd have already lost my mind and flown there just to personally strangle someone.
I have no tolerance for waiting. None. So little in fact we rarely make it to Christmas morning around here.
I hope ou can get an actual person on the phone soon.. and that your able to stop yourself from doing what I would likely do, which would get nothing done.
Since it's tomorrow there... does that mean you can tell me what the winning Powerball numbers are going to be?
Hey come on, it's worth a shot.
Sorry Jeff, but our Powerball draw isn't until Thursday. I'll send you the numbers, though. :-)
I never got a person and have sent another email to a different person. Ugh. If I don't get an answer it's back to the phones. It's not that I'm particularly patient, it's just I don't have an option.
Your sense of frustration and disappearing patience is familiar to our home. Despite your little crack about the doctors, my wife (who's a psychiatrist) has been trying very hard to practise medicine in QLD for over six months now. Given the shortage of nurses and doctors here, you'd think that they would respond a little more quickly to requests and schedule more frequent committee meeting to review applications, but, no... !
Don't worry, Prof, my crack about Patel was nothing more than that. It is very hard to get credentials of any medical type recognized here. I don't expect gratitude or anything like that, and of course you need to be thorough but why does it have to be so damned frustrating? No one so many go into other fields.
